![]() O' Sensei once said that the purpose of training was to tighten up the slack, toughen the body, and polish the spirit. He said " Everyone has a spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow". We strive to apply his views at the Mearns dojo. O' Sensei encouraged his students to cultivate their own personal expression of Aikido. He allowed them to choose their own path and apply Aikido to themselves in their own way. We strive to follow his example at the Mearns Dojo. |

Master Morihiro Saito became the guardian of the Iwama dojo and Jinja shrine after the passing of Ueshiba Sensei and went on to developed what is now known as Iwama style Aikido until his death in 2002. Master Saito undoubtable left a considerable legacy to the Aikido world although he recieves little recognition for this outside of the Iwama-Ryu Community. We strive to honour his memory and follow his example at the Mearns Dojo. |
