The Mearns Shoshin Dojo was established in 1989 by Sensei Mike Robertson. Welcoming members for the past twenty six years, the club has trained its students to the highest standard of both Shotokan Karate and Iwama-Ryu Aikido.
Since its establishment in the Laurencekirk community, the Mearns Dojo has participated in numerous competitions and courses across the UK including Karate courses with Dave Hazard Sensei (1996 - 2004), Ticky Donavan, Vince Morris and Julian Mead Sensei, the Fife Open Karate Championships (2003) annual Scottish Karate Championships (1999 -2004) Aikido seminars with Sensei Paollo Corallini, Daniel Toutain, Stephanie Yap, Stephen Colville and Stephen Murphy, where the clubs students received recognition for their skill and discipline. The club has also been responsible for the organisation of annual grading tests for all participating students and their advancement and development in training. |

The club is a full member of the Independent Martial Arts Sports Association. (IMASA) The club has a coaching team of five experienced fully insured Black Belt Instructors.
